In WordPress, this is a “post“, which is the basic element of an ongoing blog with new entries being added periodically. The WordPress system manages posts and can organize them by category, date, and in other ways.
The other basic element of the WordPress system is known as a “page” which is used for static content that doesn’t change regularly. They CAN change as needed, but generally they fit into a specific place in your website’s overall framework.
In terms of their content, a post and a page can be essentially the same thing. The difference is simply how they are managed by the system.
